  1. Day 1 CUSCO – - RAINBOW MOUNTAIN

Our idea from the beginning is to be the first on the mountain, we intend to get your photos with the fewest possible people, so we will pick you up at your hotel very early in the morning at 2:00 am and be driven in our private mini van for an approximate 3 hours in the direction of the southern valley of Cusco until the beginning the road, we will have enough time to take a breakfast rich in proteins that make our excursion simpler than it seems. Our walk up to the summit lasts approximately 2:30 minutes with a distance of 7 kilometers, from the beginning we will marvel at the surrounding landscape as this area is the natural habitat of llamas, alpacas, vizcachas that are in their own natural habitat and live free with their shepherds. In the same way you will find local people from the area that inhabits this high Andean region of Cusco throughout the year, once we are reaching the summit we will notice certain variations of colors because of the minerals that these mountains possess is the which is why they are known as the Rainbow Mountain. We will walk a bit more of the summit to get a panoramic view of the area and get to appreciate part of the snowy Ausangate who is considered as protector of the city of Cusco. We will be an approximate 1 hour at the summit taking photos to then go down the same road to taste a lunch prepared by our staff to then take our transport and be in Cusco at approximately 5:00 pm.

Cusco is a department located in the south of the Peruvian territory, presents two well-defined seasons, rains and droughts, so the climate is a mixture of intense rains in the months of November to April and sunny days from May to October, temperatures with quite changing in the hilly part of the region, these being able to descend until -5 degrees in the zone of Ausangate during the months of June to July.

The capital of the department, Cusco is located at 3342 meters above sea level, is where the planes arrive and is the basis of all expeditions to Machu Picchu and all tourist sites. On the other hand Ausangate is the highest mountain in the department with 6372 meters above sea level and many of the camps we pass are located on the 4000 to 4850 meters above sea level, therefore a previous acclimation of about 2 or 3 days in the city is more than mandatory.

We start an expedition with a minimum of two participants and we do not exceed a number of more than 8 members. If you have a large group of friends that exceeds our limit, we make a special expedition where we send a second guide to better manage the group.

Our guides and all the personnel that accompanies in an expedition receive a payment for the days that passes in the way, the gratuities are not obligatory but they are part of a custom already generalized in South America, if you feel that the service was good and according to your needs a tip will be a good message for all our staff who will feel rewarded in that way.
